Here's some great news... ---------- Forwarded message ---------- MUTEK - Music, Sound and New Technologies - is proud to announce that the sound and photographic archives of its June 2000 edition can now be accessed on its website : www.mutek.ca. The event, staged in Montreal, featured 24 live sets and 9 DJ sets presented by 34 avant-garde artists from Europe, the United States and Canada, including : Frank Bretschneider, Thomas Brinkmann, Byetone, CoH, Dakca, Vladislay Delay, Taylor Deupree, Tomas Jirku, Jake Mandell, Carsten Nicolai, Panacea, Pole, Safety Scissors, Sutekh. MUTEK is an annual international gathering showcasing emerging forms of electronic music and the latest trends in sound creation. Its mission is to be on the cutting edge of innovation and to provide an environment for discovery. The next edition of MUTEK will take place in June 2001. The heart of the program will remain live concerts and performances; other elements such as sound installations, conferences and workshops will also be featured. MUTEK is produced by the Foundation Image Light Motion & Sound (FILMS), in partnership with Ex-Centris, the Montreal cinema and new media complex. It is organized by the team responsible for the Media Lounge and the New Media section of the Montreal International Festival of New Cinema and New Media (FCMM). If you can't wait for the next edition of MUTEK, please check out the Media Lounge of the FCMM this year, as it will feature performances by Coldcut, Hexstatic, Light Surgeons, Richard H. Kirk, Thomas Koner, Bob Ostertag (tbc), Comae, El Tractor (Quebec city multimedia band), Montreal's Hautec label artists, Thomas Brinkmann (turntable performance), Pile (multimedia project on the Perlon label), Pole, Burnt Friedman, Jan Jelinek and Visomat (Berlin VJs). Many more obscure elements will also be presented, ranging from multimedia performances to multi-screen video events. 10 days non-stop, from October 12 to 22, live in Montreal and streamed on the web (www.fcmm.com).
