I dunno about everyone else, but when i first got into IDM, new releases of amazing shit were popping up all over the place. New things were going on all the time, drill and bass was just coming out . . . things seemed new. Now, as time has worn on, i've gradually grown less and less excited about new releases. IDM, for me, turned the world of pop music upside down in a fantastic way... and i would like to see people continue in that grand tradition. Don't get me wrong, im still mad 31337 idmcore and whatnot, and idm is most of what graces my stereo.... i just wish... (for something fresh?) i dunno, maybe someone else can express this more eloquently. cdin (P.S. I know there are some fantastic new releases i've missed etc, and this is more a statement on the general status of idm/electronic music than individual artists) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

But that will wear thin after a while. I'm just glad i purchased some of the older Schematic and WARP mainstays when i did, along with the very rarely rephlex or kracfive releases. i mean pop music as it stands today has pretty much borrowed all the tricks and trades of an IDM record, and have just thrown a pretty voice over it. the one thing they never touch though is the noise/drone or the truly new and uncharted (Richard Devine come to mind). i just hope that devines new one doesn't suck (i seriously doubt it, but you never know), along with the new BOC. but the one thing that you can almost always count on with BOC is that if you here them out of context anywhere you still know who made it / and what its for. heh. but then again im full of shit and still listen to johnny cash or beck when the dance just doesn't do it for me on a particular night. kd. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
