I wonder when I read these posts concerning very personal squabbles between bands ( who are the first to blame for dirty laundering in public) do any of you folks have lives of your own? With exception to the posters who claim to be "friends of so and so", why are we going over this shit? Do you really feel part of this debate if you have no personal connection to these groups? Why are we picking sides in a debate that most of us * have no say in at all*? Are the opinions of some random individual going to change Plaid/ Ken's personal debate? oh come on... i sincerely doubt that anyone here was stating their opinion with the sole intention of changing the outcome of the release. do you not discuss anything that doesn't directly relate to you? if this were a political DISCUSSION list, we'd all be discussing various candidates and their policies regardless of whether we were actual "friends of so and so". it affects us, the Plaid/BD fans, so we DO have a vested interest in the outcome. this debate is comprised of many elements relevant to IDM: good music, bad labels, intellectual copyright, and yes, DRAMA. sooo.. the no-lives-of-your-own implication is FDA approved flamebait. if you're tired of the discussion (which i'm sure many are), why don't you try this novel idea: propose a new topic! it is a much more effective approach than the "shut up and get a life or watch springer" tactic. ok, so have any of you heard of a plaid release called "Repeats (A13)"? the track list is in no particular order: death bed visions drifting sounds of wikiki end up fish stew g thing hurricane felix lilta tommorrows people tuesdays hot hit i can't seem to find it in any discographies, and it sounds very un-Plaidish in many ways. any info would greatly be appreciated... any other info on what the hell those two BoC "Disengage" tracks are would be helpful as well. regards, seesik On Thu, 6 Apr 2000, Peter Becker wrote:

The Repeat album doesnt sound like Plaid because it ISNT Plaid - well not totally. Repeat is one of the recording guises of Mark Broom & Dave Hill. Plaid have contributed to some of the Repeat records - Repeats LP, Canada ep, some of the A13 label output - but they are only guest producers not full-fledged members. I have a Repeat discography at home. I\'ll post it to the list later this evening. -->-Lance---- PO Box 450715 Westlake, OH 44145 United States --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

yes the repeat cd is nice, in fact one of my favorite abstract techno releases. regarding mark broom, is a a prolific uk producer and dj. mark has well over 80 releases to his name on a wide variety of labels including gpr, a13, d1, cosmic, ferox, pure plastic, backroom, unexplored beats, rewired, ifach, speaker attack, clear position, mosaic, dark house music, native, theory, kozzmozz, silver, warp, new electronica, piranha, and trelik. i'm sure he has djed in spain before but also tours internationally. i actually saw broom dj here in cleveland as the opening dj for autechre back in 96-97. if you're interested in hearing mark broom dj, he has a great techno mix cd out on the pirahna label. -->-Lance--- lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I've found a second hand Repeat 12" with 4 tracks on it, and wanted to know if it's "the" Repeat, ie. Mark Broom (and/or Plaid? I never figured that bit). The only track title I remember off hand is 'Canada'. It says on it that the tracks were recorded in London, and the label on the record is written in dark blue on white... Funnily enough trying to search either the archives or the web on such unspecific info (Repeat? Broom? Canada?) hasn't come up with anything. It seems kinda likely it's that Repeat, I'm just hoping someone can confirm it for me. If anyone knows what it is and also has any comments on whether it's worth picking up, I'd love to hear them. I'd be picking it up for the equivalent of about 3 GBP / 4 USD, if that's a factor on whether it's worth getting. I haven't heard the record (I have been looking for it for quite a while), but it is definitely Unexplored Beats UNEX003, Repeat's ``Canada''. Repeat is Ed Handley and Andy Turner and Dave Hill, Mark Broom may have had his mittens in there as well.

To me, that would be a steal. Repeat can be rather unwholesome at times, really annoying (like some tracks on ``Repeats'' on A13), but as a collector I would definitely get it. By the way, Stephen's http://www.twoplayer.co.uk/ is an excellent resource, everyone should check it out, if for nothing else than the rather entertaining personal ads on every page (well, there are discographies of IDM labels (living and dead) as well... :). -- nuutti-iivari meriläinen gordon at diversion dot org http colon slash slash www dot diversion dot org slash --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
