What with everyone talking about samplers, I was wondering sort of prices you'd be looking at for different models. Everyone's talking about this yamaha a3000, and it does sound pretty flash, but what sort of price would you be looking at (in the UK). I can't find any retailers on the net. Any help appreciated. i dunno about the a3000 but E-mu just converted the ESI4000 (my current rig of choice) into the ESI2000 (exact same machine, different paintjob) and droppd the price to US$599 ... from my experience in music gear shopping, you can basically change the currency symbol to Pounds Sterling and leave the numbers the same on most items, UKP 599 isn't too bad for a high quality sampler, albeit with slightly less in the ease-of-use dept. than a Yammy or higher end Akai/Emu... anyway, it's well worth the money, i paid US$1200 for mine, they've basically cut the price in 1/2. later Josh -- String Theory : Digital Music for Humans http://www.enteract.com/~yoshi/index.cgi On Mon, 21 Aug 2000, Dan Shoebridge wrote:

A5000 is superb IMO, but it's about 1200 pounds!!! well....maybe i'll buy it second hand one day:) ----- Èñõîäíîå ñîîáùåíèå ----- Îò: Dan Shoebridge <Dan.Shoebridge@opsroom.co.uk> Êîìó: <Idm@hyperreal.com> Îòïðàâëåíî: 21 àâãóñòà 2000 17:03 Òåìà: [idm] samplers What with everyone talking about samplers, I was wondering sort of prices you'd be looking at for different models. I just bought an A4000 and have been using it for a few days now and loving it more and more. I got it from zzounds.com for $972.00. they match prices as long as you can tell them where you got the price so they can verify it. Go to musicians-gear.com and get the price from them...they are in germany and get stuff cheap but zzounds matches the price anyway.... back to the sampler...the FX are killer...I was using an s2000 for 2 years and it died and would have cost 3-400 to fix so I moved on...the OS for the yammy is a bit different but the features etc. are worth learning a new system....one warning...standard simms are more expensive than most ram nowadays because it is becoming a bit obsolete... on the usd side you can find s series akais going for cheap but only 32 voices and 32 megs of ram...depends on your needs... steve ----------
