I am an SCO fan (still don't get the joke in the name, though) - what's new after that single on IMIX records? the bassland _album_ will not be out for a little while, but i will pass the word on to the list when it does come out. i have heard a "rough draft" of it, and i think it is quite good (note HUGE bias - stu and alex are very good friends of mine-- stu made me a waffle this morning and alex just literally left my house.. not that you needed to know all that, but it makes me feel more important as a music fan-- you know, as a groupie and all). anyway, while the album won't be all that "idm", there is some crossover. expect pop, not too unlike the new direction that moby is going. i think the BIGGEST suggestion i could make about bassland is trying to catch them playing live, but i think the odds of that are slim these days as stu and alex dont seem to be playing together much. shame, as they are, hands down, one of my favortie live acts ever (if not for the sheer diversity of ground they cover - pop, techno, ambient, experimental, hardcore, trance..) enough, i know, chris. np: nurse with wound: alice the goon "bodily fluids are a wonderful way to get to know someone." _we are all lost --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I am a big fan of "Dead Vent 7" album by SCO but the next album was too pop for me to digest it and I presented it to a friend of mine. Is the new stuff in the same new wave or is it closer to Dead Vent sci-fi dark atmosphear? Alien

Man, I @#$&#'in love that record! I didn't know it was DR-660...I know Daum uses an MPC2k, so I figured that at least part of the mix came from that. I borrowed a DR-660 once, and while as a sound palette it is very useful, I didn't like the programming interface. YMMV. It doesn't give you anything like an XOX or grid interface to program within...you merely work with 'steps', which are numbers on the screeen. Speaking of which, I suspect former (still?) list member Hollowman uses a DR-660 and that's why I think his stuff sounds like SCO.
