hi all, two finnish-related and quite wonderful freely downloadable recommendations for you guys: firstly, the Assembly demo-party was held in Helsinki a coupla days ago, and a number of really smart things were released. [quick explanation - demos are multimedia things you watch on your PC. they look cool. they don't do anything else. they're just slabs of cool design+art+music.. used to make a lot more sense when they were the best technical demo you could see on your computer, but they still rule..] i haven't had a chance to check out much else, but the infamous demo-collective Orange made a comeback with their original classic line-up (Hoplite/Der Piipo/Dune). Anyhow, their demo, "The Non-Stop Ibiza Experience", is pretty much amazing - great style, effects, and a great idm-ish soundtrack cutting up lots of hiphop in a Funkstorung or Kid606-ish stylee. Soundtrack's by Dune, btw, Dune = BrothomStates, who's been getting some good press round here and has been on some compilations recently.. so, download at: http://www.katastro.fi/~nemo/ibiza/ibiza_fixed.zip ..it's about 5meg, i think, and it's unaccelerated but you'll need quite a fast pc (128meg of memory recommended, Pentium 3..) this is cos all the effects are real-time, of course.. i note the soundtrack is a Winamp-playable .XM, so you can grab it from the archive anyhow.. -- secondly, the net.label Milk is one of my personal favorites of anyone releasing music online right now. Check out all their music, if you haven't, at: http://milk.sgic.fi ..and more importantly, right now, they have a new release from Fun Tourist which simply _kicks_ - massively echoing drill+bass idm action which reminds me a bit of Animals On Wheels or our friend Mr.Jenkinson, and I adore. According to Distance, Fun Tourist played a really great live set at the Finnish festival Koneisto which just happened, too.. anyhow, direct link: http://milk.sgic.fi/musa/MILK0083.ZIP It's 7 meg - check out the webpage too tho :) ok, later, h0l (http://www.mono211.com) ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
