MFM: although I cant tell you the rumor that RDJ made these tracks as a kid is true, I wouldnt be surprised in the least if this wasnt one of his early early productions. But, on the other hand, I wouldnt be surprised at all if it _wasn't_ him. What I do know, however, is how MFM sounds... It sounds like, and someone told me it was made for some kind of video game soundtrack... the tracks are totally cheesy 8-bit-nintendo era music (or even earlier sounding). They all have "melodies" and follow a predictable pattern in song structure. I remember being bored as HELL listening to them cause they didnt *do* anything. I'm sure if youre a hardcore RDJ fan this is the exact opposite of what you'd expect: "normal" music. Don't take my word for it, Ive just heard it once or twice. It was actually kinda neat to hear. BTW, can anyoe confirm that rdj made mfm? ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: "Ian Doyle" <wobbyamb@hotmail.com> Date: Sat, 05 Aug 2000 17:08:23 EST

I'm sure those of you on the Warp News mailing list will notice that Mr. James is apparently writing 17 minutes of music to go with a new Cunningham flick.... I can't wait....it's been too long since my last aphex injection... I've been looking around for Melodies From Mars on the net (no pirating flame mail please, it was never sold), and i was wondering if anyone knows how these tracks came into being...they seem to have appeared on Aphex Home out of nowhere, and were removed from the site as suddenly as they were posted. why didn't he release them on cd? i know i would have bought one, even if they are sketchy and unfinished...i'm sick to death of downloading damaged tracks (every ftp site i go to has the track numbers mixed up, so downloading is a game of russian roullette, and that's only when i find one that's not trying to make a profit out of a free release). i'm finished ranting now.
