This is an ignorant question that I should know the answer to. Who is Gescom? Is this an Ae side project? Someone told me that they were, and I dismissed it because I figured that I would have known about it. This person played me something over the phone that he had gotten from napster (from Gescom) and it sounded fantastic! Sounded like Ae / but more melodic.... like thier earlier stuff. What's the deal? Feel free to yell at me if this is supposed to be common knowledge, just don't forget the details. I just saw a Coke commercial that has a track that I'm sure I have in my collection somewhere, but I can't seem to put my finger on it. The commercial was kind of mellow and low key....the end had a guy sitting on top of the roof of a house and a 3d animated Coke can rotating in mid-air. The music sounded more on the dub/groovy beat side of IDM. Anyone know anything about this? tekdz9er --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Yup, it's Amon Tobin. "Deo" from Supermodified. I was bitchin' about this on the list a couple of weeks ago. I also saw a BMW commercial tonight that used "Get Your Snack On", the first track on Supermodified. He must be a rich man now. Good for him. Gescom consists 18 (or something like that) people, including Ae. Gescom 1 on Skam was done by Bola, Rob Hall and Ae, Gescom 2 by Ae and Andy Maddocks (Skamboss), Motor wasn't done by Ae at all but just by friends.. and there are some more Gescom releases sometimes done by Ae + friends or just by friends or just by Ae. So it varies "who Gescom is". I didn't know if anyone has posted about this. Can't wait to hear it. Has anyone managed to hear it for find any reviews? GESCOM EP [SKAM, SKA020] (5" CD). Release Date: April 14th Much talked-about new EP from Gescom, the many-armed and multi-headed recording/DJing outfit that includes Autechre's Rob and Sean. Sonically, the EP shows the evolution in the Gescom sound and reflects the huge time gap since their last full release... and whether or not Booth and Brown are involved here, their influence on at least two of these tracks is undeniable. This initial vinyl pressing is limited so get in there quick. The Cd comes with the added bonus of a 14 minute long 'Megamix.' 1. ISS:SA 2. TANGLE ILL 3. TR2A 4. SLOW ACID 5. MEGAMIX 14. ===== "... we live in fictitious times. We live in a time where we have fictitious election results, that elect a fictitious president. >Where can I listen to the Gescom MiniDisc online? I've wanted to get it for a while but I'd like to listen to a bit of it >first. Dunno about that, but I can give a brief description- It doesn't really have any "songs" on it, just broken bits of samples and loops and glitches. Not really any beats either. It's got like 50 tracks which range from about 10 seconds to 60 seconds, some longer some shorter. Fodder for sampling. Similar to the Wrong Application comp on Tigerbeat or perhaps some Mego stuff. >Is there anywhere to listen to their newest album? From what I remember, you couldn't listen to >it on the Warp site. If it's not on the Skam site or the Warp site, I would assume your best bet is Soulseek.

If memory serves, the point of the MD release was for the listener to play it on shuffle. Since MD players read 6 (?) seconds ahead (and there's therefore no gap between tracks on shuffle), the listener gets a different "song" every time they play it. I think. it was a base of two people, sean booth and rob brown of autechre... they collaborated with countless others over the years. one of the heaviest contributors to Gescom was Darrell Fitton (bola).. over the years they put out some amazing stuff, especially the early 12"s on Skam. now try to find it all. :) -kiya www.anti-yo.com ----- Original Message ----- From: Lumin Egress <applesgrowontrees@gmail.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Thursday, December 01, 2005 11:24 AM Subject: [idm] Gescom I have been listening to a lot of Gescom.
