i didnt get to see pita/fennesz in chicago last night.
but i did get to see them earlier this year in brooklyn. NY.
and i have to say it was one of the best live electronic music experiences that ive had.
they both did short, very loud, assaultive sets.
but being inside of that massive wall of sound, it became very beautiful for me.
but it can always depend on the venue, mood, sound system, etc.
im assuming they did similar stuff in chicago last nite.
i think they both make top notch music.
and you cant do the same things they do if you just go out and buy MAX/MSP and learn the tutorials.
max/msp is a challenging and very open program. you need the ideas before you can do anything in that program.
anyways, pita/fennesz know how to craft a maximalist/minimalist soundworld with beautiful subtleties and details.
fennesz showed me that white noise can be a beautful thing.
but i can see that if thats not your bag then you might not like it.
they dont compromise.
plus the sound system at the empty bottle is so terrible, especially for electronic music.
i digress.
