Other people have already mentioned Vinyl Exchange on Oldham Street; there is another branch on Bridge Street (CD-only). There's also quite a good second-hand stall in Affleck's (on Oldham Street) apparently, but I restrict myself to...

I am not good with names, however, there is a park---not good with names---with a big Farris-wheel in it, if you go east presuming you're facing North(the east side of the park), the first street past it, there are several( 3-4)record stores on the same street........ In fact, I believe it was the street that Planet K was on! I was just trying to help. Ha ha ha...U know the one I see..... Yep, Piccadilly Square is that right? There was one place I went to on Oldham I believe and the guy was knowledgeable. Well, ha ha, I kept asking everyone about B-12 and Stasis(from my long train ride from London to Manchester), many looked at me like I was some American fool(they got that part right), but this guy knew of Stasis and B-12.....so I got all excited.... His store was nicely laid out, but I didnt see anything I liked, and the prices were HIGH.....but he was a cool bloke though it was on the North Side of the Street.....a little down from Vinyl Exchange(thats the one with the downstairs right)? -----Original Message----- From: ::: tomagotchi ::: [mailto:tomagotchi@madasafish.com] Sent: Thursday, July 06, 2000 10:20 AM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: [idm] Records shops in Manchester At 08:05 06/07/00 -0500, you wrote:

Is Eastern Bloc still there? They had some well unusual idm from europe and rare stuffs. Decoy Records is pretty cool, but mostly on the jazzy/worldy esoteric side of things./\. Think they rebuilt themselves somewheres after the bomb went off... Ha ha ha...U know the one I see..... Yep, Piccadilly Square is that right? also, next to the colluseumn (very dodgy kids hang out, has lots of manga [good!] post-grunge/goth clothes [bad!] and dodgy porno videos [sick]) there is a little yellow shack that sells lots of second hand records, cds and videos. hey they even had a fatcat promo cd in there for 99p!! but um, i don't think that's what you looking for. they had some classy videos in there though. manchester is anice place though, nicer than i thought it would be. it's grim oop north though. uh, this is well ot. sorry, don't flame me! ;) hey some idm content: i was listening to one of the EU cd-rs last night. it is beautiful. like Múm as well.. definately two things to look out for. and ww.e-rmx.com as well! ;) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Gotta give a shout out to a shop called Polar Bear on Deansgate (excuse my lack of local knowledge but it's round the corner from the wee square with a statue of Abraham Lincoln in it) which I think is a mix of new and second hand stuff. I've always walked past on my lunch break and thought it looked a bit cack, but I wandered in last week and was rifling through the racks, when I turned up the mighty Unique 3's 'Jus Unique' on CD, which I've been after for flippin ages. You know when that hidden gem just appears in front of you, totally unexpected, and you grab it and clutch it to your chest thinking any minute someone's going to try and rob it off you? I tell you, I was well chuffed. So respect to Polar Bear, Deansgate, Mcr, UK. Damon. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
