Simple Text for the Macintosh has been able to speak English for the last
five years. There are a bunch of great voices available with the newer OS
versions. Victoria and Bruce have a high quality setting that almost sounds
like a real human.
I think that you could get it to speak in other languages by getting
international OS patches.
