I can only tell you what I gathered from seeing the 10" for sale, but: As stated on the back of the 10" cover it's reworkings of the album versions w/o the MC's or rappers as they would (and do) perform them live. It's an "alternative" for a live album, which they didn't want to release because of the experience of seeing a band live that is lost on a live album. So it's basically a studio recording of the live versions of their tracks. The odd thing I noticed about it is that it was not released by Ninja Tune (which explains the lack of info on the website). I forget what label it is released on, but theres not a single Ninja marking on the release (that I could find). I'm interested in how it would sound, but not $30 interested, so I didn't go for it. If someone does grab it could they post a review? Preferably someone who's seen them live so they could give a good comparison. On a tangential note (but not so off topic) what's the deal with the shitty line-up for the Montreal Jazz Festival this year? Last year there were tons of Ninja's, plus great electronic artists for the whole week. The only act I'm really interested in this year is Blackalicious, but it's not worth the trip.

It's something they wanted to do themselves, so they would have a good document of the live show to sell at gigs and what not. It's released on their own label Dept.H. No drama or anything, they're still with Ninja Tune and I imagine we'll be releasing a new record in 2001. Jeff
