is it just me or is this the hottest album opener since "Cooper's World" on Squarepusher's Hard Normal Daddy. The drum break is simply beautiful. for those not in the know: Get Your Snack On is the first cut on Amon TObin's Supermodified. I bought his last album, and thought it had some interesting moments but wound up trading it after losing interest in it as a whole. This one seems much more eloquent and refined. Bravo Amon Tobin. This dude knows how to program the samplers mang. Also bravo to Voda for the KICK_ASS mastering ... records like this make me glad i paid extra $$ for a stereo amp with a high quality phono pre-amp. Voda rules. Kyocera rules. Technics rules. yow! josh -- String Theory : Digital Music for Humans http://www.enteract.com/~yoshi/index.cgi --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Definitely not just you, and definitely the hottest album opener since Michael Jackson's "Thriller" -- now *that's* the kind of IDM I was listening to when I was 12... ;> Here's the "Supermodified" review I wrote for All Music Guide:... "Farther away from drum'n'bass and closer to big-beat techno (with a little turntablist mayhem thrown in), Amon Tobin's third album for Ninja Tune breaks out with a devastating opener, "Get Your Snack On." The track turns out to be just one of the highlights on "Supermodified", a dense, plunderphonic kaleidoscope of an album with giant, noisy jazz breaks and groovy electronic synthwork. It's got quite a bit of the retro-sampling of "Permutation" (orchestra strings, jazz combos, groovy psychedelic basslines) along with a wider variety of material, from driving funky-breaks productions ("Four Ton Mantis") and playful cut'n'paste numbers ("Precursor," "Chocolate Lovely"), to darkstep jungle ("Golfer Vrs. Boxer") and surprisingly touching minimalist melancholia ("Slowly," "Deo"). Tobin's again made great strides in his production skills, and the range and greatness of this material serves as proof positive." ~ John Bush --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Wasn't Thriller the last track on the album? I think the opener was "Beat It" or "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'". Pretty sure it's "Beat It", but I always forget which is side A and B. But they might have changed the order on the CD. :) Sqrrt, threadspotting. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

If you're talking about the 'Thriller' album, then the track 'Thriller' is track 4. On 'History vol. 1' it's track 9 and on the 'History 1' video it's track 7. np:: Chris Morris - 'Blue Jam series 1 episode 2'
