question for the djs: i'm looking into getting some decks, but (as we all know) 1200's are pricey, and they don't have some features i'm looking for (reverse, pitch blend) - i'm somewhat new to this, and wondering if someone can tell me their _personal_experiences_ with various brands (gemini, numark, etc.). i'm willing to pay somewhere in the $300-375/a piece (US) range. i've looked all over the web and am having little luck finding reviews/comparisons of dj equipment. if you know some urls for that type of thing, that would be cool too. thanks. and if you think this is OT and i should try another list, let me just say that i don't WANT to try another list. i want to ask YOU guys, cuz i think YOU guys might know what the hell you're talking about. Rule of thumb - the more features, the less reliable and stable the turntable will be. I haven't had the (dis)pleasure of using Numark's yet, but I know the pitch is much different than either Gemini's, Vestax or Technics. Gemini's are relatively solid all around, but the torque is much weaker on the Mk-II's (they messed up a good thing... the original PT-1000 models were ok). Never played with Vestax's.... you might check those out tho. Technics are worth the investment if you're looking for a solid all-around turntable. Most likely, if you buy anything else you'll be sacrificing at least one thing (solid tracking, torque, pitch, etc. etc.) But hey, I still have Gemini's.... :) Aaron --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

i started off on 4 year old soundlab dlp1's and now a 1 year and 3 months later i use technics! i now play at free parties and some small club nights around london! the point is it doesn't matter what decks u have aslong as you can mix on them! but in saying this i will contradict myself in way; i have used t1210's for about 6 months and this is when the mixing progressed exponetially! personally i think technics are the good shit and if you have a great love for music that's all you need!!!!!! Good Luck!!!! Aaron S Michelson wrote:
