I think the problem isn't so much that women's looks are "brought into things". It's more that everybody else's aren't. Morton Feldman for instance was one fat ugly fuck who made beautiful music, and also had a large (satisfied) sexual appetite. I think it might be instructional to look back at ancient Athens, where the measure of the man took into consideration all aspects of that which made the man - 'body' included (It could be argued that it is around this time 600-400B.C. that the body/mind split was being engineered for the first time, at least as it is now perceived in the west). WHAT IS MUSIC ANYWAY, BUT A BUNCH OF BODIES AFFECTED. I know I'll get flamed for being all over the place with this one, but I don't care because this is just a little post to a little list called IDM. My point; the general state of erotophobia in western society blows out of proportion the importance of female 'proportions', while suppressing the appreciation of the beauty of the male body. So that everything is quite lopsided, and understandably feminism and other 'radical' ways of thinking have taken this to be problematic. The danger is to react with a jerking knee. I liked Irene McC's post a little while back where she talked about Ae's high cheek bones, because there wasn't an ounce of puritanism in it. (I hope I have that right Irene, was it you?). First error: we and our works are somehow 'metaphysically' separate from our 'bodies'. Second error: (and the scourge of the Platonic/JudeoChristian axis) Taking this new found 'body' and trampling on it. Everybody does it, Feminists, Nazis, IDMers, Christians, Sugarsmiths, Plumbers. People, dick or no dick, are always just a body doing something, or a body to which something is being done. Today for instance, I was the latter, and the sky is bright. Christophe
