hi all,
apologies if this ain't of interest (i try to post
relatively seldom, certainly not every update), but
there's a number of new releases for download at
monotonik+friends, as always hanging out at:
http://www.mono211.com
these include a new mp3 from Thug that I think was
hanging around the Aural Industries website before
but that you might not have spotted - it's very nice,
anyhow, called "Werdan".
we also did a little compilation of Vim's 20 best chip-tunes
he's done over the past 7 years or so, and released it as
a 'chip LP', called, ahem, "Chip Van Winkle". think Tim Follin
meets Squarepusher, if that makes sense - only 250k.
finally, Subi releases his best-of mp3 album, "The Rave-O-Lution
Will Be Terrorised - 1989-2000", on our sublabel especially for him,
mono-rave-ik :) if you don't know what he's like, umm, think
Eskimos And Egypt meets the Prodigy's first album. We suspect
it's an acquired taste, but heck, we love him :P there's a whole
11-track album up there as mp3s or .mods for anyone who wants to
check it out.
And, since it hasn't been mentioned here yet, I don't think,
I wanna mention the upcoming Lackluster remix 12" on Focus/DeFocus.
It's especially cool because a bunch of online/idm-list-affiliated
people are on it, and they're getting a nice wider audience for
their excellent music on a respected label - remixers include Bauri, Xhale,
Sense, and BrothomStates. Details, as ever, at the Lackluster visual
discography:
http://www.scene.org/~esa/lldiscog/index.html
regards,
h0l.
ps - straying into hiphop, I fear, but - Porn Theater Ushers? Anyone
heard them/love them? I accidentally found a couple of their tracks
online, and was totally knocked out - they're horribly good in a
goofy whiteboy Jurassic 5 type way :)
