Dave Siska from Chicago -- very good DJ, very wide-ranging musical taste. And a nice guy to boot. I don't see it as a problem except that it's not like house music -- it's not all between 120 and 140 bpm, so there are things you just can't beatmatch. But if you know your tracks you can do what teep always did -- drop one thing and bring the next in by itself. It takes just as much skill to seque meaningfully between two pieces at different tempos as it does to beat match. Considering the number of thickies I know who are house DJs, I can't get too excited any more about beatmatching. It's a skill, like glazing windows or running a lathe, not an art. kent williams -- kent@avalon.net --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

idm definitely can be beatmatched effectively. it might not be as straight up as 4/4 house, techno, or jungle, but the beat is definitely there. anyone who's ever heard Schematic's Dj Aura knows it's true. everything from fizzarum, autechre, funkstorung, lego feet, to dynamix ii, kraftwerk, plastikman. if you still doubt: jega- card hore +5 the operator- bootparamd -6 see if a third song doesn't come out of the two. - chris --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
