hi ppl,
firstly, there's been a quick update to the Monotonik
page with Vim's "4-Bit Xmas EP" mp3s, two of the tracks
that already appeared on his own personal website. Ahh,
Xmas themed idm, as mentioned previously, you can't beat
it ;) Oh, Vim now appears to have an appearance on a
charity compilation alongside people like Flying Saucer
Attack coming out soon.. woo! More information about
that soon..
Anyhow, the new tunes are freely downloadable and all
that, go grab it at:
http://www.mono211.com/monotonik
..also should point out that Mono211 the label is no
more, cos everything is being integrated in to make
Monotonik more frequently updated, nicer, cooler, and
more jolly. All the old Mono211 releases will be
integrated into the Monotonik website over the next
few weeks.
Oh, and whilst I trailed the Jet Black Crayon/Live Human
show last week at the Justice League in SF, I didn't get
a chance to go. DOH! But I did go to the Future Primitive
Sound Session on Friday night at Justice League (they're
responsible for some great mix-CDs), and jeeeez, if it
wasn't Cut Chemist (Jurassic 5, etc..) and Z-Trip (ITF
champion, rite?) scratchin' on 4 decks, and they were
absolutely AMAZING. None of that tedious technical stuff
the Piklz sometimes get stuck into, some great tunes,
some really cool playing of speeded-up a-cappellas over
almost jungle-speed breaks, and Cut Chemist scratching
to, umm, the tune from "Manic Miner" (ok, ok, I should
know my classics!) which went faster and faster until my
mind burst. yummy. Then DJ Faust and Shortee (female scratch
DJ, gosh!) came on and, umm, they were a bit more pedestrian
but still good so we went home..
regards,
h0l/simon.
