No one who is actually trying to produce tracks should be using Creative Labs cards. They use crap analogue components so they're noisy, and they cheap out on isolating the analogue stage's power from the main computer power source, so you often get a lot of low level machine noise. There are so many other cards out, at similar price points, that are so much better, I can't imagine anyone going with Creative Labs, straight up. It used to be important to be soundblaster compatible for dos-based games, but since more and more games are DirectX, there's no point in crippling yourself by going with Creative. It's even crazier to consider spending $200 on a crapblaster when you can get a 4 input, 8 output, SPDIF and TOSLINK setup for $399. I just bought one of these -- a Lexicon Core23. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

then again, that card also looks like it doesnt have any midi ins or outs. the sblive does. the sb looks like to ME the best value for everything you get. (i dont own either though, so its all my opinion from looking at them) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
