Well, I just peeped a Klunko track called threadbare navy blue and since I've been kind of caught up in this thread, I'll comment on it. The guy that said that it was a joke was way off, this was obviously a serious attempt at writing an IDM song, which is what I'd criticize it for more than anything else. Structurally it seems sound, and the percussion sequencing (though not my style) is well done. I found the song to be totally obnoxious, personally. Sounded like half of the samples were made with a microphone and a mouth. I picked up some digital noise during certain parts which is an obvious sign that this was constructed on a computer, I often run into the same sound when I'm doing my own stuff. It doesn't sound exactly like anything I've heard, but I think if you took out the homemade noise samples and replaced them with rich percussive textures, then rearranged the 'melodic' notes in the song to actually create something remotely pleasant to listen to, it could be a mouse on mars sounding song, perhaps. My advice to Klunko is to expand your horizons and start listening to different types of music, maybe classic country or something... anything, just stop trying to do IDM, and let it happen naturally. I doubt too many of the IDM favorites on this list actually sat down and set out to create IDM music, so why should you? If you aren't too insulted by these comments, I'd be interested in finding out exactly what kind of sequencing software you are using, unless you are using a Mac, in which case I don't know or care anything about what was used. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

listening Well that's a pretty useless analogy. It's like saying if I recorded myself taking a shit, ran it through some effects pedals, and then arranged each "plop" into something remotely pleasant to listen to, I might have something that resembles a Mike Paradinas song. Please.

And this coming from the same guy who was complaining about stereotyping AOL-users as mildly retarded rodents. superfuzz@home.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Hahaha. I realize I am adding nothing of value to this thread but to reiterate, Hahaha. np. klf 'space' - wells oliver / s0ewoliv@titan.vcu.edu " The ball is round. The game lasts ninety 90 minutes.
