Or doesn't exist at *all* if you don't live in North America. Not to point fingers, but it really amazes me how insular people can be when it comes to stuff like this. Americans are particularily notorious for this sort of thing, but I've seen similar attitudes in people from other countries as well (including right here in Canada): the assumption that everything in the rest of the world is exactly like it is at home, so doing something like sending out greetings regarding an American holiday to an international forum seems totally normal to them. I once had a discussion with a U.S. resident who couldn't understand why we didn't celebrate the 4th of July in Canada. I then told him that we have a 1st of July holiday instead, and that just confused him even further. Sigh. Just have to make one quick vent of my many years of sourness about the extent of cultural imperialism in this lovely wee world... I've never done so before in 5 years (on and off) of mailing list activity, so bear with me. :) It blows me away the way "domestic release" on this list is equivelant to "US release". Many's the time while I was in the UK I wanted to announce the domestic release of the latest Warp offering, months before Matador or whoever had picked it up in the States. Jeez, "US release" is even shorter to type. Grr grr. And, yes, here in New Zealand ("Like, is that in Scandinavia?" "Somewhere near Boston?" "Just off the coast of Australia?" bah... my backpacking experiences) Summer's round the corner.
