yow. i got this a few hours ago in the mail, and i'm still listening to it. so far i'm comparing it, overall, to a fusion (ahem) between the beautiful songs you loved from Feed Me.. and the manic beats of the Vic Acid ep, but then a few times better than that. buy it. really. right now. -- andrew j. shay / q`26 contact: bobtj@wwa.com 261 conspirator, hyperreal 'spotter design team

TJ continues is journey into totally illin' graphics. 7 tracks, 29 minutes, this is about double what you get on the typical Squarepusher single, though still not the full value you'd expect from, say, Autechre or the Orb. That's okay, there are enough ideas here to make up for it. The blow by blow: a journey to reedham - TJ indulges his taste for cheese. full rinse - like a bad jungle track heard on the tail-end of a bad trip where the DJ is really trying to fuck with you (or so you think). What is real, anyway? massif - TJ's sensitive side. Beautiful in a fucked-up way. A great track to play at parties, right after Sympathy for the Devil (RS or Laibach, take your pick) to let everyone know that they'll never, ever understand your musical tastes. come on my selector - what is that beat that is so incredibly sped up, anyway? Great driving music. This is the sort of track that makes me think Mr. J is truly special. Oh, and yes, TJ plays bass. the body builder - whack. tequila fish - pushing the edges of tonality. jaques mal chance - a throwaway. I think Vic Acid is stronger overall, but I'm sure I'll get an argument on this. Ask me again tomorrow. Believe it or not, I haven't bought the album yet. What the hell am I waiting for, anyway>? Che

Just picked this up like an hour ago. Tom J. does boot-on-your-skull-step (new sub-genre??) jungle. Thought it was wonderful. But then again I like mixing potent weed with dark jungle which makes me really fucking paranoid(check out my sig). But this was not expected out of TomJ. Much more interesting then MikeP's stab at the same genre on "approaching menace". freshie Paranoia: The choice of a Tech Generation http://silly.com/~tang

I just got this ep, and must say, even though it has shortcomings, it's fucking brilliant !! some of the best squarepusher stuff ever :) the first tune "a jouney to reedham" is actually one of 2 tunes on here that I think are brilliant, the other being massif (stay strong) or at least I think that's the name, the last letter is kinda tough to make out :) Basically, a journey to reedham, despite the new simple synthy stuff that it starts with at the beginning, seems to be a followup on the stuff he did with Fat Controller (the Vic Acid version), but this is far more developed (and far more beautiful IMO).. fat controller was ok, but was kindof unstructured. massif (stay strong) uses square waves in the melody which gives it some space in the background, while crazy acid lines and breaks fill up the foreground, not to say the melody is distant, it's close, but not as close as the drums and the acid stuff. __ __\ \ / /_\ \ \_____/ www.freq-div.home.ml.org

Why is it hard to make out? Is there artwork or something on there? Annoying, I have the promo and there's no artwork at really, to speak of. Apart from a kind of computer-game type symbol on side a and a (perfectly clear) track listing on the other side. Am I missing out on loads of artwork by not having the regular release? -- Ben Coffer Hybrid Productions http://www.hybridgame.demon.co.uk/
