Lee, Metamatics' track "2nd Floor Flat" on their new 2x10 "Neo Ouija" is one of my recent favorites: simply elegant and catchy, with an excellent new-wavey ("neo-ouija"?)...edge-uh. ...hmm! I really recommend this 2x10 on Hydrogen Jukebox to any IDM fans that might like Dot records' pop feel mixed with good grooves... Is this a strictly H*use label or what? I heard a brilliant track being played and asked the friendly deejay what it was, and he said AI People on H/Jukebox, but unsurprisingly I've been unable to track this down here in good ol' Cape Town (he had personally brought in the vinyl from his travels abroad). Any news/info on AI People? Further : I have a release by Big Eye called The Hidden Core from '95 on a label called "Hydrogen" - is this any relation or something completely different? Hydrogen Dukebox don't seem to have their own defined sound... The have released some pretty diverse stuff in the past including a Si Begg/A1 People collaboration 12" called B-Boy of Tomorrow, and the 'Do It' A1 People 12" with a Metamatics remix.... and several releases that feature Two Lone Swordsmen mixes.... and of course Hydrogen Dukebox also run the Recordings of Substance label, who have Icarus on their roster... who deserves a bit more recognition.. I have heard there will be some very interesting releases/re-releases on Hydrogen Dukebox in the new year...
