I really enjoyed the one 12" I heard by Slop Salon, which I think would have been released in June or July of this year. I don't have the details off-hand, but it's something like 'Meeting Mr J' (or that's one of the tracks). Again, from memory, the label is Aspeak. The A side is one long CR style techno tune (well, actually more like Bernd Maus), with the B side having something more disjointed and un-techno, followed by a beatless dub number with a nice piano solo in the middle. Anyway, the inevitable question: is there any other stuff around by Slop Salon, or perhaps on the same label? The search I did was particularly fruitless on the matter... Slop Salon is by Sirken Sikøra who also records as Sikora on the Klang Elektronik label. Sikora has four excellent 12"s on Klang all very similar in style to his Slop Salon ep. The Slop Salon: meeing mr j 12" is #2 on the Aspeak label. The first Aspeak 12" is by Johannes Heil under the name Jim Henson Project. The style of this release is jazzy-funky house that didnt interest me enough to buy when I heard it last year. Anyway, here is the info on the Sikora releases: . Sikora: Kitsch-schmelzer 12" (Klang Elektronik 034) . Sikora: Abend:Skool 12" (Klang Elektronik 024) . Sikora: Tanzcafe 12" (Klang Elektronik 022) . Sikora: Eigenheim 12" (Klang Elektronik 011) If you enjoy the Slop Salon/Sikora sound then I highly suggest you check out the Farben as well as the Maus & Stoll eps all on Klang Elektronik. Here is the poop on those: . Farben: Featuring the Dramatics 12" (Klang Elektronik 032) . Farben: Stuck 12" (Klang Elektronik 025) . Farben: Disfunction 12" (Klang Elektronik 019) . Maus & Stolle: extra vergine 12" (Klang Elektronik 030) . Maus & Stolle: sparks 12" (Klang Elektronik 018) . Maus & Stolle: adore 12" (Klang Elektronik 012) For more info check Circonium's excellent Klang site at: http://www.snafu.de/~circonium/music/klang.html -->-Lance--- lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
