Gordon Sharp started out singing for Cindytalk in the early 80's [also
on 4AD], then sang on the 3 This Mortal Coil LPs. He was living in London
up until about 4-5 years ago, when he and his wife made the move to
good old Columbus, OH [yo] and got involved with some of the ele_mental
and active_not_passive events. As Bambule Commando, his eclectic mix of
d'n'b, electro, and experimental sounds graced our scene for a while.
Concurrently he was involved with the Zhark label and Somatic Responses
and brought the UK's "electromash" sound, essentially electroacoustical
mayhem. It could be best exemplified in more accessable form as Autechre's
Second Bad Vilbel at 78rpm, with elements of dark drum&bass and extreme
noise. Some of the stuff he's played and created could quite possibly
make your eardrums bleed. Sadly, he left a few months ago for Philadelphia.
We miss him.
He's formed deep connections between Zhark, RRR, and Somatic Responses,
and if you're looking something truly unique, combining the darkest
elements of electro, d'n'b, industrial, noise, and experimental/idm sounds,
track his stuff down..
