in the words of the justified ancients ... Help! How many of you are spending 11h59 on 31-Dec-99 sweating over decks? I've just been approached to play a private New Year's party to roughly 100 people (staff etc.) of a local 'scene-y' magazine. Nice in theory, but do I want to do it? Aside from the responsibility of making sure these people have a memorable and enjoyable night, it also means that I'm not really in a circle of friends/family, but "working" (even though of course I love it). Thoughts? I *

Well, I'm going to be spending Thanksgiving, Christmas AND th' Dawn of th' New Mineralinoleum in a barracks on an US Air Force Base (no leave during Basic Training!) I will be getting up at 5:00 am on January 1st to do push-ups et cetera. Personally, I can't wait. Hence my advice to you is to just go and DJ the shit out of those people. They'll be drunk out of their minds anyway- at least you're getting to have fun and get some kind of rush. Besides, it makes for a lot better "where were you when Y2K hit?" story- 1. I was drunk at a party with my friends 2. I was dropping the fat tracks at a party 3. I was in an army cot trying to sleep Keep in mind that answer number one is going to be shared by 98% of the population... We were recently asked to play a live set on New Year's Eve, and initially I thought it was a cool idea, but I've since decided to turn down the offer just because I would like to keep my options open in case there's some place I'd rather be, like barracaded at home with 2 weeks' supply of food and water or just hanging out with friends. Tough decision though.. I think it would have been interesting to put together an hour of music with the thought in mind that this is the first thing these people will hear in 2000. cid. ____________ rodlogic.com
