It occurred to me the other day that an IDM database would be a really, really good website. Sort of a compilation of discographies (artist and label), upcoming releases, reviews, etc. Kind of like Hyperreal and Amazing Discographies combined and set to Intelligent Dance Music. I'm thinking I wouldn't mind doing a lot of the leg work, but I'm wondering who out there would be able to contribute a lot of the discography information (or at least help me fine tune up what I already have). If you want to contribute some lists or just browse through the first discographical lists or just have any ideas, drop me a line, it seems like this would be a valuable resource if it ever actually got going. B. (biting off more than I can chew)

wasnt that the goal of the trainspotter db? (archives still can be found at hyperreal) i dont know those who were involved, but it seems like it just dropped. if it's still going, it sure would be cool to have different roles (artists, distributors, 'spotters) so that these diffrent user types could submit their relative contributions according to their access levels. e.g. artist submits release info, distributor updates availability, spotters can critique. until then we have to keep querying the lancebot db. lance, are you interested in hosting a web app server from your facility? how 'bout a co-lo? anyone else got a solaris box w/ a fast pipe? agent mully icq 33102742 np: voices in my lunchbox vol 2

hmm, when aran and i put together idm-r, we were talking with the trainspotter people about making some common entry format so that the stuff archived from idm-r could be accessed by the trainspotter database. that was a long time ago, and i haven't heard anything from the hyperreal trainspotter crew (or aran for that matter) for a long time. putting together a large database like that is a lot of work...good luck.

while perusing the new and very informative IDM database, i searched for "rephlex" in the email address and found loads of emails from Grant personally to IDM. what happened to this? i think that having Jeff from Ninja Tune personally express his thoughts and views on the ideas we fans share is a great thing to have. ill bet if we had participation from other labels like Warp and Rephlex and Skam, things would be so much more interesting. just a thought sam ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hi, It has been brought to my attention that there is a problem with the search engine (http://www.madvision.co.uk/idm) , when using Netscape 4.5, if you have experienced any problems then please mail me (bugs@madvision.co.uk) the symptoms and I will endeavour to fix them. I have also noticed from the stats that several people are getting 'time out' errors; if this happens to you, please let me know (bugs@madvision.co.uk), and what it was you where searching for.... Other than that thanks to all those who are visiting the site, and especially those who are adding links to their sites. Finally I am going to be spending a lot more time on the IDM database over the next few weeks, and one of the features I will be expanding is the links list.. if you know of a small label or artist site then please mail me the beef so I can add it to the list. Cheers, Dan. -- dan@madvision.co.uk www.madvision.co.uk t:(+44) 7050 801701 f:(+44) 7050 801704 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
