i can't speak for bogdan, but i know from listening to squarepusher and mike paradinas that there is little likelyhood they randomize their patterns. i've been drumming for 8 years and have done plenty of random percussion sequences and they just lack the overall flow and feel of a well programmed beat which both squarepusher and u-ziq provide. at times i am amazed that squarepusher isn't a drummer because he is able to write such coherent and cohesive percussion parts. now if only he could play his parts live like me </boast> ;) -sean

FYI... I spoke to Tom Jenkinson around the time that Hard Normal Daddy came out, and he said that he programmed every beat by hand.... and an average track would take him about three weeks. So there. Aaron

Squarepusher IS a drummer. Heard his last 3 releases? He played drums before learning bass if I'm not mistaken (but easily could be). -Aaron

Jenkinson played all of the drum parts on _Music Is Rotted One Note_ and perhaps on the EPs that followed it. He may not be Tony Williams or Billy Cobham, but to say that he's not a drummer would be inaccurate.
