Aspen, also known as Bevan Smith has been working on some ambient tracks recently, but i'm not sure if and when it will receive an official release. Last year saw Aspen's first album simply called "Album" combing techno, idm, and nice bubbly rhythms. Released on Elephant Electronic which is now Involve, run by Bevan. There's a compilation with Aspen, Patio (Jet Jaguar & Aspen), and Jet Jaguar (Michael Upton) called the "Involve Compilation", but that was limited to about 15 copies and distributed to friends etc. Some of the tracks on the comp can be found on an upcoming self titled Jet Jaguar release, as well as Patio's "Parallel Play". If i've lost you already, i'm very sorry. These releases are highly recommended... Additional to these, he has tunes from his first band Oblique on 'Skankatronics', a compilation of Wellington techno (and my tune in 11 8 ;-) from 96. It should be available via http://obscure.co.nz (as it was Obscure that released that comp). He also writes techno as Signer. The tune on '...Retail Snob' that's listed as a Signer remix (maybe without the "g" :-) is pretty indicative of his style. He's also got a full length Signer album on the way on another New Zealand label, Kog Transmissions. Their web site is http://kog.co.nz For that matter he's on 'Algorythm', a Kog comp of ostensibly tech-house, and we're aiming to be on their upcoming dub and electro compilations with some Patio tracks. Excuse me if this is all a bit loose... Michael Join 18 million Eudora users by signing up for a free Eudora Web-Mail account at http://www.eudoramail.com

For that matter, Bevan has also collaborated on a cd called Extrapolation -- "Continental Drift" released on Elephant Jazz / Elephant Records in 98. He did the "electric treatments and synthesizers" for this release. But keep in mind this title is on the experimental jazz tip, no idm.
