I've seen Dave Wright's name come up a few times on the list (I think) but figured I might bring it up myself. in my opinion, this was a *major* release (possible turning point?) for Invisible Records. If you've never heard Not Breathing, its right up the idm alley. Sort of a techno / ambient / industrial hybrid filled with all sorts of weirdness. Not at all comparable to anything else Invisible had released up until its release earlier this year. Though I've yet to hear it, there's a DVOA / Not Breathing release out that I believe involves the two remixing each other, which I imagine must be quite a listen... Well worth checking out. When I first saw that Invisible was releasing Not Breathing, it blew me away (Pigface this is *NOT*) Great material for a change fo pace (or not... this isn't all that far from the stuff out from vvm... better, imo) Chris brap@sonic.net http://www.sonic.net/~brap/ Black Dog, Whitezone-L, Music Search Engine, etc. C.Gosselin, PO Box 8264, Santa Rosa, CA 95407

Ooooh. yeah. Dave Wright is da man. I've dug his stuff since he sent me his first few releases a couple of years ago. He has his fingers stuck in a few different styles (his cassette releases, for example, tend more towards the abstract noise end of the electronic spectrum), but I think his album for Invisible is the pinnacle of his work so far. It reminds me of all the best bots of Coil and Autechre mashed together. And I agree that it was somewhat of a turning point for Invisible. Previously, they only had three or four releases that I would give the time a day, but they've been batting at least .500 since then.

Yup, it's pretty nifty alright. Dave and Mark compliment each other very well. I always prefer Mark's collaborative efforts, anyway - it's like he has lots of great ideas, but needs another person's input to get them in focus.I think he recognizes this as well since most of his upcoming plans involve other people. kGreg np: Download "III"

just to add my 2cents... I like the stuff I have by not breathing, although I think Dave samples a bit too much of Aphex Twin... but I still like it. (btw. I think Black Lung could fall into the catagory of using too many Aphex samples, but I like them, too!) np: Max Polo - Exploration In a message dated 11/05/97 2:01:00 PM, brap@sonic.net wrote:

I don't think so. I know Dave Wright has alot of new tunes and he had them mastered in SF. The last time we talked about it he said that it could turn into their next album, the stuff i heard was really cool! I think the label was going to decide whether it was going to be release as an album. I don't know if anyone noticed but NB does a cover of Crash & Burn on some Ministry tribute. I'm sure their cover is probably the only good one. We have a live show he did at KUCI, I'll ask to see if we can put it on the kuci.org website. happy trails __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? where can I get it via mail order? "Itchy Tingles" ain't out yet, I believe they're still working on the artwork...Invisible (from whom you can mail order it no problem) don't have it listed on their current and soon to be released sheet so I would say maybe Dec? Hell why not email dave himself? kuma __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Bid and sell for free at http://auctions.yahoo.com
