methinks it was the coil remix of 'closer' by nin... it was certainly _some_ remix of that tune. - wells oliver / s0ewoliv@titan.vcu.edu " The only difference between suicide and martyrdom is press coverage. "

Yup, it was - although it's a slightly different mix to the one that was released on the "Closer" single, and it doesn't appear on the Seven soundtrack album. There was a bit of a stink because Coil's involvment wasn't credited, even after Trent requested it. I don't know if they fixed it for the video release or not. And on a somewhat related but totally IDM-less tangent - anyone else hyped about "Fight Club"? Greg

yes!! reasons: 1) david fincher. (the game, se7en, and alien3, which i'm not afraid to say i liked). 2) ed norton. enough said. 3) most importantly: the novel. okay, so i picked it up after i heard all about the film, but what a wicked book. the author (chuck palahniuk) has a few news ones out, survivor & invisible monsters. i'm just about finished with Survivor and it's equally as.. psychotic.. as fight club. rumor has it that danny boyle (director of trainspotting, shallow grave) is doing a film of survivor, and bill condon (gods & monsters) will do invisible monsters. anyway, i'm done. if you haven't read the novel, try to do so before the film. it's definately worth it. - wells oliver / s0ewoliv@titan.vcu.edu " The only difference between suicide and martyrdom is press coverage. whoa, wells, isn't brad pitt a bit commercial and fluffy for you? ;) sorry, just surprised to see you excited (positively) over something.

yeah, i also heard danny boyle was gonna do one. didn't hear which, though, but it's cool to know. he would pull that off well. * #### a disturbance in a system. #### laerm. @voicenet.com ##:# calm down my heart/don't beat so fast/don't be afraid icq:5562209 just once in a lifetime

The person who wrote Se7en also wrote 8mm, which had Come to Daddy in it, right? Imaginary Forces seem to be big IDM/industrial fans, with them using 'more-than-a-few' IDM-tracks in their work. Frequently they'll cut to their favorite tracks, then pursue rights to them later on. The word is that Fincher specifically moved away from using IF for The Game and Fight Club because the titles got more credit in some circles than the actual film itself. Too bad P. Scott Makela [designer of the Fight Club titles and Lotus commercials, not to mention faculty head of 2d design at Cranbrook with his wife Laurie Haycock Makela] died just 3-4 months ago. This really isn't on topic anymore.. I'm out. PS: I'm DJing in Berlin @ Tresor on 04 DEC 99 if anyone is around... skam/schematics/BCP/m-plant/abstract electro/minimal tech-house stuff. +odd -- Todd Sines icq: 11117580 SCALE:form | image | sound http://www.scalestudio.com

On that note, I suspect I wasn't the only person on this list for whom any hope of drama in the end of 8MM was lost. When Nicholas Cage was walking up the stairs, and then it actually *shows* an Aphex Twin record, the whole concern about him getting murdered by "Machine" was just lost. That entire ending drama struggle bit was just doomed by the inclusion of silly Aphex songs. All I could think, as the wrassling went on in the mud outside that house was, "Ha. What gratuitous Aphex Twin usage." Although, I have to say that given the nature of the movie, I think "Funny Little Man" would have been a better track. ---- "There is no gang of 'intelligent techno' freaks here who break showroom windows to steal pocket calculators." - Jouni Alkio Jeff Pitrman [cCM] jeff@spof.net http://bling.spof.net
