Man, that's like asking someone why he likes the taste of orange juice or something. What music one likes is all a matter of taste. It's completely subjective. As for BoC, I just like them...don't know exactly why. And I guess they're "so great" because a lot of other people like them. That's not what makes me enjoy them, mind you, but that's why they're talked about so often. We really should discuss something more informative than what qualities of Boards of Canada make them popular. Jeff

no im not. if i was, i wouldnt have been so careful with the way i worded my post. how do you know you like something if you cant tell me what it is exactly that you like about it? do you like the beats or the structure? do you like it when youre high? does it make you think of a particular time in you life that you enjoyed? please explain. as a listener i find their music enjoyable but i think there is other music that is more deserving of attention then BoC. as i said in my post i wanted to know what it is that people enjoy about BoC... perhaps i am approaching it in the wrong way...

of >Boards of Canada make them popular. like what? how about what kind of person would pay $250 for some cdrs? or how about what kind of music does one listen to when having sex.... i think this discussion is fine because im asking people to explain what it is they enjoy about a particular musical artist. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "black is a bright light on a dark day" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it. it's perfectly human to like something and have no idea why. i love beamish irish stout, don't ask me why, cuz i can't tell you.

are you a computer in disguise? no offence, but i think you need more experience with people, perhaps not just through computer screens. * #### a disturbance in a system. #### laerm. @voicenet.com ##:# it's only in uncertainty/that we're naked and alive icq:5562209

Beautiful melodies (great harmonic/melodic sense), cool overall "sound design", very nice development, whimsical sense of humor... It's just so damn PLEASANT...but in a non offensive way. Actually I didn't give this record a chance until all the hype wore off, but it's really a great record. They're one of the only groups that manages to absorb the Autechre influence, but doesn't sound like a blatant rip-off (i.e....well, maybe I won't get into that, but you know who I'm talking about). actually, i don't really get the autechre influence. or, at least, the standard autechre influence. i suppose i can see the slow beats of _amber_, but not the style that has influence funkboring (whoops, didn't mean to name the name you didn't want to name). * #### a disturbance in a system. #### laerm. @voicenet.com ##:# it's only in uncertainty/that we're naked and alive icq:5562209
