some music makes my mind race like mad.. kinda like being on acid (or whatever psychedelic) -- quite literally.. and i am not sure if somehow certain music just triggers memories of odd trips where we would sit around and listening to stuff like coil and jj perrey and mr kingsley and negativland and just escaping into our own world .. or running about disneyland listening to "disconnected666" over and over or that mr toad song by boyd rice ..but for whatever reason, some of these "new school" electronic bands seem to bring up WAY too familiar feelings. i think i first started noticing this when listening to Metic -- the sounds were, to me, so very very DXM (yes, cough syrup).. very drippy and gooshy.. and somehow capturing some of those sounds that only i thought i heard while under the influence of some of the most disgusting and icky tasting fun ever! and then of course there was this one song (i can never figure out that damn track listing!) on autechre's chiastic slide (the opening perhaps?) where the beats kinda morph and tweek and change -- a lot like when tripping and trying to stay focussed on one thing, but have it slowly change -- and never knowing when that change really started or ended (i get the same thing from some minimal techno) lately though, so much music has been hitting me in such a way.. even as periods of sobriety grow greater and greater (and free time less and less, blah). sutekh, i swear, has got to produce some of the most psychedelic stuff! even this mix tape i have of his is out of control (oops.. gotta return that one to a friend hehe). then there is this stuff on TOM -- like sack and blumm, novisad, etc -- that is just so subtle but so odd and trippy (for lack of a better word).. and zammuto (one of the most original and *out there* cds i have ever heard).. OH -and fenno'berg (what a gem that is!) so i have been trying to figure out what it is about this music that catches my mind and pushes it a little bit elsewhere, but have had little luck. and im not sure why i wrote this, other than the new sutekh is just so much in 'that' way for me.. and that the recent discussion of AE rip offs has involved so many artists that i think take things a little over the edge in their own special way (arovane, the schematic kids, even lexaunculpt -- but not so much funkstorung :) so it goes. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Hmm, dunno about cough syrup but there was one time when the water heater's pilot light blew out and right before the leaking gas put us to sleep forever I could have sworn someone left Oval's "Do While" on infinite repeat. Wolfgang V isnt the only one who can do "gas" musak!! e Ernesto Ikerd, (817) 763-4795 Company Graphics, Dept 17, MZ-4202 Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company Fort Worth, Texas --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
