Hey, Wanted to add my two bits to the house discussion (as by trade it seems I'm a house DJ... hehe): Glasgow Underground A few people mentioned it before... great label. It seems their sound tends to veer more into jazzy disco house... very laid back. Check out their Glasgow Underground Volume 2 comp.... great tracks by Daniel Ibbotson, Romanthony & DJ Predator, and an awesome mix by Slam of a Mateo & Matos track. Also check out the Slam Mode "Novus Ordo" 12" feat. a wicked 10+ minute jazzy house track.... wicked. Circulation I asked about this on the list a while ago and finally caught up two days ago when I got my first order... Circulation Lemon and Green are my favs so far.... very deep, melodic, beautiful house music.... Plastic City Amazing! Simply amazing. For more foot-driven tech-house sounds look no further than Terry Lee Brown Junior, whose "Chocolate Chords" record is still one of my favorite house full-lengths. Also check out the much more chilled, glorious debut from The Timewriter, "Jigsaw Pieces." A very smooth, organic almost ambient house record.... Aaron

I think this is a good time to ask about the new Thee Madkatt Courtship album. I was leafing through Mizmag (or was it Muzik?) and noticed an article on Felix Da Housekat and a review of his album, both of which contained words to the effect of "the best house album of the year." Although I don't trust Mixmag/Muzik 100% (or even 90%) when it comes to my purchases, I cannot help being interested, especially as I really enjoy Felix's vocal mix of the new <whisper> Pet Shop Boys </whisper> single. Ciao - A technobabe just gave me the latest Sasha comp "San Francisco" and this sounds quite lush on first listen. Smooth instrumental house/techno. 3

Eep! This was a little too cheesy/progressive trance for my tastes. I tend to veer far away from this stuff, although the Expeditions and East/West coast discs were top (lots more ambient/lush noodling). Aaron

Sorry to bring on the dreaded "eep" reaction. Perhaps too far off the idm track now! 3

holder is from toronto. runs his own dnh label. has recorded for studio k7, nrk, and a few other labels. currently has a compilation album out on nrk of some of his good stuff. he tends to do either deeper house (tribal, warm, etc) OR sample happy house (usually badly done). avoid his two albums on studio k7 like the plague, go for the nrk stuff and make sure you listen to the dnh stuff to see if it's one of his deeper releases or one of his sample happy releases. hope this helps. andrew duke rab wrote:
