Their remix of Saint Etienne's "Like a Motorway" is fantastic.
I love their Stereolab remix (available only on the Japanese release of
the Miss Modular EP) but I can imagine it'd be an acquired taste.
And they did a remix on the Certificate 18 comp "The Widescreen
Versions". The artist is Lexis; it's called the "Autechre slow mix" and
hilariously is some of the most ridiculously fast drum'n'bass
programming I've heard.
On the other hand, I hate the Various Artists mix they did (but the Pole
and Monolake mixes are great - odd since I don't really like Monolake or
the Basic Channel sound at all), and I don't like the recent
Squarepusher one either. Both have unyielding 4/4 beats and tiny
melodies that don't do anything for me.
The East Flatbush Project Tried By 12 remix is odd for me - I really
don't like the beats or anything at all, but sometimes quite enjoy what
they do to the vocals.
So anyway, I can see where you're coming from.
Try those ones I mentioned out, if you haven't heard them. The Saint
Etienne comes from quite a while ago, and is really lovely, Aphex-like
meaningless vocal samples and great atmosphere.
Cheers,
Peter.
