V/A: Headz 3LP [MW026LP:f] UK warehouse find of the last copies of this historic 1994-96 compilation [long o/p on CD] in the UK. Autechre, DJ Shadow, Howie B., U.N.K.L.E., Attica Blues, Nightmares on Wax, La Funk Mob, RPM, Olde Scottish, Skull, Palmskin Productions, Tranquility Bass, Patterson, Awunsound, M.F. Outa National, and Deflon Sallahr. I've been seeing these "UK Warehouse" finds a lot lately. I know Warp/Skam have also been repressing some of their backcatalog...when are they going to get around to repressing Autechre's LPs on wax? The demand is defintely there... there recently were "warehouse finds" of both the JAMS _1987_ and KLF _chill out_ on vinyl, but both turned out to be almost well-done bootlegs. beware advertised "warehouse finds", i say. * #### a disturbance in a system. #### laerm. @voicenet.com ##:# no particular place names/no particular song icq 5562209 i've been hiding/what am i hiding from? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Here's my 2 bits about "Warehouse Finds": Your best bet is to find a reputable seller. Often supposedly very rare items come out of hiding from somewhere, even to the larger mail-order distributers. An example is Forced Exposure still having copies of the 2nd Bradley Strider EP in stock, a few folks have caught onto this and are selling them on Ebay for $30-50 (they're quite a "steal" comparatively from FE, who is, for a limited time, selling them for a low low $9). Buyer beware the capitalistic urge, and all that. I don't think illegitimate represses are a huge problem, but seeing as how a single copy of (fill in the blank: joyrex9, mask1, etc.) are going for a few hundred bucks, you can easily recoup your losses of pressing even a dozen. I just think it's easier for the average lowbrow to fanthom making bootleg CDR's and selling them on the street corner (or low morality store) than go through the hassle of getting plates made and vinyl pressed.
