i hadn't asked until now, being loathe to resurrect the old "funkstorung: 33 or 45?" topic (a favorite of many a high school debate team, i hear). however: there's a track on Global Communications' 76:14 -- i think it's the B2 track -- that i regularly play at 45, and it's just perfect. a beautiful mid-tempo breakbeat track with swooning female vocals... mixes beautifully with some slower house (and, in fact, the first track on the Dettinger CD sounds uncannily like it!). now, i can't believe that it's supposed to be at 45, since the rest of the LP is 33... but damn, it just sounds so right. anyone else try this one? phil

This isn't famous for being spun at the wrong speed, but I've noticed it sounds fine at either speed: Aemic - Beta 10" (MAS) the side with only one track Andrei

though i prefer Alpeh at 33 and Beta at 45, I have it from definitive sources that both were composed at 45. peeeeeeeece, -- Jeff Davis pHlow@earthlink.net fn:216.533.6303 fx:216.266.2310 text:2165336303@mobile.att.net pHlow.linx: home.earthlink.net/~phlow/ Bochum Welt: www.bochumwelt.com Rotator Locator: hyperreal.org/music/rotator/

My two fave wrong speed tracks: The Kinesthesia track on Empathy Box remixes (I think that's the one - first track on the "remixers" label side) played at 45rpm. I like it at both but I'm pretty sure it's at 33rpm because of the vocal samples in what is probably the Autechre mix. The second track on the same side (Mu-ziq mix from its sound and from its order on the label) sounds really dumb at 45 though. AND, of course the Fennesz Plays 7" at 45rpm. One side (can't remember which) sounds much better at 45 in some ways; I usually listen to both sides at 45 and then both sides at 33.
