Just got around to ordering a load of Reckank stuff myself now that Hrvatski's CD is out... just waiting for it to get confirmed and ship now. :) Just out of curiosity, what is the common opinion on packaging? Does it make a release?

Hmmm... Not necessarily for me... BUT... It does ... for me show... some more ingenuity... which makes me feel like the artist(s)... Put more effort ... creativity ... etc into their release... showing that kind of dedication... and creation... makes the whole experience that much more unique... there for pleasurable... plus... I like seeing what people can come up with... and interesting and innovative packaging... is just plain fun... (i think on both ends - procurement and end user)... You (Andrew Hime) may have written:

:Just out of curiosity, what is the common opinion on packaging? Does it :make a release? Just my personal opinion.. i think packaging is a very important aspect of any release. I think if the packaging is attractive, unique and sets the album apart from others.. someone is doing their job. Plus, the packaging is another method by which an artist can express him/her/itself. my 2c :diagonal. :::::*** <Contact: Em : jperez@usc.edu + musicformindphones@email.com Wb : Underconstruction Ph : 2137480388 kscr radio, home of 'music for mindphones' = kscr.usc.edu grooves = www.rain.org/~audio/grooves/

just my two cents on this: packaging can be cost prohibitive. Sometimes you are faced with releasing something with shoddy packaging or not releasing it at all. Remember do not judge a book by it's cover. if you can afford it then good packaging should be done. -daniel Head Monkey Mad Monkey Records http://monkey.eliteware.com On Thu, 26 Aug 1999, Diagonal wrote:

I would never assume that packaging should take precedence over the release itself... The music is always more important than the package... but the aesthetics and thought that go into it are nice to see...it adds to the whole experience... it does not make it though... for me anyway.
