dunno if people already mentioned this. it's an article on "glitch" music that appears to have run in the New York Press. knowledgeable, well-written piece encapsulating a "genre" discussed with some frequency on this list. http://www.wfmu.org/~kennyg/popular/articles/glitchwerks.html sc

All in all, not a bad article....but how the hell do you do an article on glitching CD music and not mention Oval once?!? I'm baffled, but maybe that's just my Oval preference showing through. what really disturbs me with this article is the simonreynoldizing found in the 'glitchwerks' term itself. puh-LEASE. glitchWORKS perhaps (if you REALLY need to coin a term), but werks? that makes it sound like some retard techno offspring, conjures up images of y34H d00D!!!! chat room lameness. as for it not mentioning oval, i don't really care. i'm much more contented by the fact that they mention DISC! No, you're right, that is a bit unbelievable...

In true Simon Reynolds fashion, the term 'Simon-izing' should be substituted re: the projection of lo-syllable monikers of questionable origin onto young/under-documented genres. 'Adult Hardcore'? 'Neuro Funk'? Tee hee... -Våt PS- I'll take 'Sound Research' (thanks: Airlock), possibly 'Digital Sound Research' for the Mego set... np: The Caretaker: 'Selected Memories from the Haunted Ballroom' (V/Vm) ____________________ Reckankreuzungsklankewerkzeuge PO BOX 382864. and [into hyper-anal trainspotter mode]: am i the only one that noticed that raster has NEVER once pressed up a record on 'trademark spermy-white' vinyl? always either clear or black...

no, the main problem, IMHO, is the whole pigeonholing of these artists. i mean, when you get right down to it, Farmers manual and Noto really don't have anything in common except the techniques used in creation. how is the airlock(tronics) stuff, btw? worthwile? honestly, though, it was a pretty good article for the uninitiated.
