Some of you may care about this. Dave Segal Managing Editor/Alternative Press Reviews/BPM/Reissue Redux/Origins Of Cool Secret Ions on WCSB Thursdays 9-11PM EST www.wcsb.org ---------- From: Erik Gilbert <erikg@rcn.com> To: erikg@rcn.com Subject: Follow Up Date: Thu, Aug 19, 1999, 12:34 AM Upon reflection I realize that in informing you of my resignation from Asphodel I may have unintentionally added to the rumors and confusion surrounding the state of the label. Please be advised that Asphodel is still very much in business, Mitzi has simply realized that having offices in both New York and San Francisco is too much of a burden for a label this size. All of Asphodel's operations will now be centered in San Francisco. The new contact information is as follows: Asphodel Ltd. 763 Brannan St. San Francisco CA 94103 USA fax (415) 863-4973 mitzi@asphodel.com for general business matters teresa@asphodel.com for billing/financial matters naut@asphodel.com A&R filiz@asphodel.com for promotional requests Asphodel will be staying true to its vision of bringing forth the highest level of musical expression in a variety of genres, including new releases by Mix Master Mike, Rob Swift, and Tipsy. The imprint label Sombient will also continue with a project by Christian Marclay and Otomo Yoshihide, as well as new recordings of important works by John Cage. I am excited to begin a new chapter in my professional life, but I am also grateful to have been a part of Asphodel's development into the label you have come to know. I wish them continued success.

Got a feature on I-f up on the Skinny: http://www.skinny.com Here's a quote that didn't make the final cut: (On the major label offers that came in the wake of "Space Invaders":) "It could have made a lot of money for me man—big black BMW and leather suits and stuff. Cool, but again I’m doing what I don’t want to do—being a slave to a company—like number 10,500. And, ‘Oh this guy called, this annoying guy with a big mouth,’ you know. I’m not ready for that shit…I fought hard to be where I am right now, for these few cents. [Money] makes my life easier, definitely; I need money too, I have to pay rent, I want to release records. But not on those terms, because I know I have something to offer, and not just me, the posse, the scene. Everybody’s on a roll—I’m not going to sell that out, for only one year. So of course I would love to talk to the majors if they were very interested, but if they’re not, it’s fine with me too. I’ll just continue the daily struggle." There's also some reviews of Push Button, Soul Oddity, Meat Beat Skam, and some other goodies: http://www.skinny.com/music/reviews/ thanks for the minute of your time, darren
