i got my hands on a copy of Monolake new EP yesterday. "gobi" it's called;
gorgeous stuff. for those that shy away from the beatoriented nature of the
chain reaction releases, this one might be for you. it's entirely beatless
and filled with the sort of organic digital perambulations featured on
robert henke's solo releases ("piercing music" and "floating.point"), as
well as previous monolake releases (minus the boom-boom). immersive ambient
ala eno's "on land," with added tones, timbres, and soundspace
characteristics specific to digital synthesis and production (no pops,
clicks, or buzzes, either, for those turned off by such...).
