A quick review for those that care:
Last night at The Middle East in Boston, MA gave us:
DJ SoulJacker:
Whatever.. They hid him in the back.. He spun really nice stuff.. I would go
see him at a club.
Hrvatski:
Holy crap. If you haven't heard him yet, maybe you should think about going
to the store and picking up some right quickly. Again they hid the man in
charge behind speakers and such. The crowd didn't really understand what
was going on. The "unremixable madness" was pounding the dust outta plaster
for miles. I loved it. I'll listen to Keith over AFX anyday.
Trans Am:
I had bought a couple cds of theirs in the past and was entirely
unimpressed. Maybe they have changed on more recent albums, but they just
straight up rawked last night. Even songs that I remembered from those past
albums were redone with searing guitars and the vocoder of doom. Fun, not
my bag really, but worth seeing.
Mouse on Mars:
What can I say? Live guitar, live percussion, live bass, much knob
twiddlin.... It was unbeleivable. Every song they played was redone to
incoporate these instruments. They had the place bouncing around like Jenna
Jameson's titties.. After hearing people say "I hear these Mouse on Mars
guys are good" before the show, I wondered what kind of reception they would
get. Even the slowest, most melow tunes were transformed into raucous fun.
Too bad the sound system couldn't handle it. Alot of it was just too loud
and became a jumbled, distorted mess. Not MoM's fault. Either way.. Steal
a car, mortgage your house, beat up some old women.. I don't give a flying
fuck what you have to do to go see them live.. Just do it.
Thanks for reading...
Shifty's roomate,
N8(!)
