then why is a 'gutta perch' (the patch kutek track from the Beta... 12") on ischemic strokes 1 and credited to takeshi? So, if we choose ignore the press release and this obvious clue, who might it really be? and why all the secracy? that said, the Beta Botega 12" is very different. at first i was like 'what the fuck?' but now i'm starting to dig it, sorta a modernization of 'artificial intelligence'-styled early IDM. the people saying it's boring techno really need to give it a second spin np: Doug E. Fresh & MC Ricky D: The Show/La Di Da Di 12"

Well, I know nothing about Takeshi... But I can tell you that I spoke with the guy running Beta Bodega... at the Funkstr/Phoen show in Miami... Where both PushButton and Patcha were on the flyer for... (though it turned out that PBO and PK were only supposed to spin)... anyway... they did spin... and I later found out that the short guy (I do not know his name) from Funkstr ie not the blond one... is PK... so maybe Takeshi and PK and this guy are all the same and we are aimlessly splitting hairs... but I was told that he was Patcha ... and he was spinning at one point in the evening... so there you have it... Shit... a friend of mine even showed a Takeshi 12" which said (backwards I think).... patacha kutek=takeshi... or something like that... non-the-less... this is what I was told by beta bodega... and there ya go... Perhaps everyone is pulling our legs.... and it is really Noriega?... As for the secrecy... well ... he seemed to kinda get off on it... it is kinda funny... sorta... .... like the fact that Hamijama is not just Jake Mandell... it is him and some asian woman... he had everyone under aliases... and was at times hesitent to tell me that much...

The Beta Bodega press releases / etc. seem to be at least a little inspired by Underground Resistance's approach, including the penchant for anonymity. Just an observartion, feel free to disagree... -d.w.

For $5.99 or so, yes. For much more, no.

Perhaps.

A definite no. Most of the tracks sound like Spanners-era Black Dog (which is a good thing in and of itself, just the Coalition tracks seem to run on without a real purpose/closure). _Ischemic Folks_ is tops from 1st track to last. No comparison. J np: Funckarma "Chemical Chain Reaction" "He thought: I know Ali is honest: I have known that for fifteen years; I am just trying to find a companion in this region of lies. Am I the only one that thinks _Ischemic Folks_ is pretty, well, dead-assed boring? There's a few good tidbits here and there, but good god. - wells oliver / s0ewoliv@titan.vcu.edu " the first rule about fight club is you don't talk about fight club "
