heloo, well i seem to have come around to idm the last year (ae,boc(i just realized it looks like blue oyster cult)j.mandell, pole, pansonic, bola, snd, lex etc.i guess i'm wondering, what records are essential(ie definitive/must have/crucial) to the genre? i cant believe it but i dont own ANY aphex twin records.... i guess im wondering if anyone out there has the time i would really, really apreciate any feedback you could give me.being that i have limited funds,no computer at home(this is on work time) and a real interest and love for this kind of music,i am wary of making too many uninformed purchases.there have been a few people on this list who have already helped me out and i am grateful. thanks in advance respect, Lrod _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Artificial Intelligence I & II on Warp are real classics of the original IDM sound. AI II is especially worth having (esp the 2cd version), it is one of those rare compilations which hangs together really well as an album instead of just sounding like a collection of different tracks. They are more about lush, beautiful melodies than the sort of spikey beatistry that seems to define the modern sound though. d0ktor -----Original Message----- From: j elrod <turquoisecloud@yahoo.com> To: idm@hyperreal.org <idm@hyperreal.org> Date: Wednesday, August 11, 1999 7:04 PM Subject: (idm) in need of a foundation/new idm building blocks
