I've been listening to high-rate MP3 Shoutcasts a lot lately. They're almost all 56 or 112 or 128 Kbps streams, so the sound quality is rad. I listened to BeNOW (@ 128 Kbps, baby) all day long at work yesterday ... they play a *great* mixed selection that doesn't repeat (well, at least not for a really long time, from what I can tell ... ). Go to http://www.BeNOW.ORG/ and check it out. Here's the last few tracks I've heard on it, as we speak: Richard H. Kirk - Virtual State 03 - come (8.01) Richard H. Kirk - Virtual State 02 - frequency band (6.25) Plastikman - Musik 01 - konception (8.11) Plastikman - Recycled Plastik 03 - Spaz (7.40) Pete Namlook - 4Voice 06 - Move (5.54) Leftfield - Leftism 07 - Space Shanty (7.14) Joey Beltram - Places 08 - Oval (5.06) Joey Beltram - Places 05 - Metro (3.49) Dave Angel - Tales Of The Unexpected 03 - Timeless (6.08) Hardfloor - Funalogue 02 - Roar (4.48) Secret Life Of Trance 3 CD1 04 - Rising High Collective - Tangled In My Thoughts (Hardfloor Mix) (6.56) Hardfloor - Respect 03 - Absestos in Obsterics (8.17) Hardfloor - Respect 07 - Mahogany Roots (6.58) Goa - Psychedelic Flashbacks 2 CD4 03 - Hyperreal Interface - Da Drum Goa - Psychedelic Flashbacks 2 CD3 08 - Pybus - Time Gate (3.49) Goa - Psychedelic Flashbacks 2 CD3 07 - Ziontek - The Chase (5.48) Goa - Psychedelic Flashbacks 2 CD2 07 - Sporum - Spiral Chant (8.48) Admittedly, a lot of the stuff they play isn't exactly released-yesterday stuff, but it's still good just the same. And it beats feeding CDs that I'm already bored with into the computer, much less the hopelessness of the radio. And there's even IDM content (Kirk, Plastikman, Namlook, Beltram, Angel, etc.) to boot. I <*HEART*> my phatpipe ... If anyone else has any IDM-oriented Shoutcasts/Icecasts they know of, speak up! - Greg

i run one off of 63.66.234.21:8000, it's mostly electro and new wave, the occasional bleepbloop bit, and general things that have worked their way into my collection, so i change things up fairly often. there will soon be live mixes and performances - keep an eye peeled to www.synthesizer.org eric onnow: midnight star : freakazoid
