oh, another big recommendation on REALLY nice triphop -
(btw, Mark Stevens' list was topnotch), is Earthling. They're
now kaput, they were vaguely Portishead-affiliated, their
rapper Mau (now in 4AD's Cuba, which I haven't heard
much about - anyone?) is an absolute genius, and actually
someone mentioned them on the list recently."Echo On My Mind"
and "Planet Of The Apes" are two particularly good tracks,
most of their stuff has _totally_ surreal rapping but some
is instrumental only. Very bizarre cover of Springsteen's
"Because The Night", too.
Umm, nice T-shirts too - 'Earthling Quality Sandwiches',

ps - I think I was caught comparing a Scanner concert
to artwankery a few weeks back. Well I just heard his
new album on Sulphur/Sulfur (his own label, right?),
"Lauwarm - Instrumentals" - really _really_ good. I take
it all back. :)
