okay. This is kinda funny. I was listening to (or rather i was being made to listen to) the toronto "new rock" station today and they played the new Nine Inch Nails single "The Day The World Went Away" (I'm fuzzy on how i feel about this one...maybe it's because i haven't listened to NIN in several years, but i dunno). After they played it the guy started talking about Nothing Records and decided to list some of the talents signed to it. Of course he mentioned Autechre. Now * I * always thought it was pronounced AW-tek-er. Everyone i know who knows Autechre pronounces it that way. The radio talk guy pronounced it aw-TESCH-ruh. I started to laugh derisively, but then it occured to me that i may be laughing in ignorance. I know this has probably been asked a million times before, but just how IS Autechre pronounced? -n

you got it right friend. the fellow on the radio was probably trying to give himself an invisible handjob by throwing out some more experimental names...now he just looks like what he is. cya. crabcakes. unk hunka ub drub dook kak On Fri, 16 Jul 1999, nimu-e wrote:

no chance in hell he'd actually play it, eh? what a concept that'd be! a dj who can _decide what to play on his show_! commercial radio stations do that a lot: talk about someone 'hip', without even playing anything by them. some perverse way to look like you're in the know while 'satisfying' a lemming audience with britney spears' & cher's antics. fortunately you can tell by how badly they know their stuff: '...the band squarepusher with their new nothing album _music has one rotten note_...' somehow, everytime i think of commercial radio, i'm instantly bitter. -- david turgeon at http://www.notype.com

did you notice how nobody liked it? all the listener comments were negative. the host even said that they didn't get any positive feedback. "The Fragile" double album best be damn good. i mean earth shattering. i remember anticipating Ministry's "filth pig" years ago and by the time it was released i lost interest. which is good since it sucked. but i still have some faith in trent, so he best not dissappoint. tomas
