Does anyone know anything about an application called MAX, apparently an app for creating new sound interfaces? I'm especially interested in what artists might be using this (is this like what Autechre is using to develop their own software?)? Also, has anyone heard any tracks by Shirt Trax on Touch/OR? Thanks! phil

I havent heard the Max stuff but i have heard the Shirt Trax track on the Decay comp on Ash International. Shirt Trax is by Mark Fell (½ of SND) and Jez Potter, a producer from Brighton. The track on the Decay comp is called Living with Jean Shirt Part 2 and it sounds like a less structured/more abstract & freeform SND track. Coming in September will be a full Shirt Trax cd on the OR/Touch label. Definitely one to look fwd to... -->-Lance--- mclance@nacs.net lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Tetsu Inoue used it extensively on his last two albums "Psycho-Acoustic" and "Waterloo Terminal". See http://www.opcode.com/products/max/ for more information. I believe Sun Electric are also proponents of the MAX software... I used it quite a bit while taking some electronic music courses at university, back in 94-95 and even on a mac classic, I loved it. cheers q ------------------------- quentin rogers http://www.teamlounge.com syntext@teamlounge.com

One more to the list of users... The online aggitator antiorp (http://www.m9ndfukc.com). A friend bought some of the software he uses in some of his songs... *VERY* intersting... A lot of fun too... He (antiorp) has stuff for sale.... Things that generate crazy midi streams... generates... patches for Nord Leads... and an insane audio manipulating program too... lots of fun... antiorp maybe not be IDM... but he is pretty interesting... and writes some hectic music...
