Greater Than One, aka GTO, was the product of Michael Wells and Lee Newman, who worked under several pseudonyms including Technohead, John and Julie, and Tricky Disco. Lee Newman died of cander a few years ago but Michael Wells has continued on with several projects including Signs Ov Chaos. He's been working a lot with Scanner. Someone else probably knows more than me on this topic. Anyway, i consider GTO's "Index" is probably the best thing they did under the "Greater Than One" name. Check out http://www.brainwashed.com/gto for more information. Peter Becker wrote:

In the light of Sharon Maher's post outlining the Michael Wells connection, I can add that I've got Signs Of Chaos' "Departure - Designer Lounge Beats" which came out on Medcom/Roadrunner last year. Very pleasant and quite as the title suggests. But what *IS* this doing on Roadrunner?! I *

This EP still sounds great....maybe this is more for the industrial lists but I'm sure someone here has an id on these folks. All I've heard of their other stuff is ok, but not fantstatic, really dated sounding. The Index ep is fanstatic though. Did they do anything else in this style? Thanx! Most of the Greater Than One material does sound dated, but that's not surprising considering when they were released. Index was the best Greater Than One release, although i'm fairly partial to "I Don't Need God" (maybe its just the sample). The stuff they did post-Greater Than One is all over the place - and under several different names. If you can find them, the GTO Data Flow CDs are excellent (they were released post-name change, ie after Greater Than One started going by GTO exclusivly). brazen stupidity wrote:

I've said it before and I'll say it again. "Music can never sound dated, it's timeless " do you ever encounter a conversation about classical music where someone says " mozart sounds pretty dated " no. GTO is brilliant. index is good, tricky disco on warp is amazing, chuch of ecstacy "modulator, and devil beats " are ultimate "Rave" anthems, I don't need god is amazing. Bryan onnow:roger powell"air pocket " never dated, just repackaged. On Fri, 2 Jul 1999, Sharon Maher wrote:
