The Orb live is pretty much as Clint describes: Thomas playing the Macbook and LX does the spinning. The last time there was a 15 minute interlude in the set with LX DJ’ing (including a Pink Floyd Remix, undoubtely remixed by LX himself) with great visuals, that was the 25th Anniversary Orb Tour. Not like the old days, but definitely worth a visit.
Which is what I am going to do: 14th May at Eurorock festival in Belgium, 7th October in Amsterdam. Like I said earlier: the future is looking bright J

Johan

Onderwerp: Re: Fw: orb
when i saw them in minneapolis (at Prince's former club, First Avenue,
smallish place)
it was just alex on his cdjs/turntable(s) and fehlmann on a mac book
alex played some edited versions of their classic tracks, like LFC and the
like, and he mixed in some other bits, samples, and cut in huge bass booms
over several sections, it was really tastefully done and gave the tracks
alot more impact, but it wasnt like anything mindblowingly new
then fehlmann periodically improvised/added tempo synced
beats/percussion/etc on top of it
they played a couple misc tracks from throguhout their catalog, had a
really really great visual show, and alex did some mixing stunts and
generally looked like he was having a good time
all and all i thought it was a good show, very good flow to it, sounded
good and fit alot of material into the two hours they played
also tickets were like $20 or $25 so, i thought that was pretty reasonable
i would def go see them again if they ever come to minneapolis, it was just
a nice relaxing show without people spilling drinks on your and poking
their cigarettes into your new shirt
etc
